The Color Monster: Travel Edition (published by Devir Games / distributed by Outset Media) scales down the award-winning socio-emotional learning game into a compact, travel-friendly package. Designed around emotional literacy for early learners, the game replaces high-conflict board play with open discussion and collaborative puzzle-solving. The primary gameplay objective centers on emotional organization: the poor Color Monster has woken up feeling very confused, with all his emotions tangled up together; players work together to guide the Monster around the board, talk about their feelings, and sort each emotion token into its matching jar before the Monster gets overwhelmed.

The primary mechanical hurdle stems from navigating hidden jars while encouraging real-world personal reflection. Players roll a custom die to move the Color Monster figurine or the little girl helper around a circular pathway of colorful emotion spaces (representing Joy/Yellow, Sadness/Blue, Anger/Red, Fear/Black, and Calm/Green). When landing on an emotion space, the player shares a personal experience, memory, or feeling connected to that emotion (e.g., "What makes you feel calm?"), then selects one of the face-down emotion jars. If the revealed jar matches the active color, the emotion token is safely sorted inside. If a player flips over the tricky "Naughtiness" or mixed-up confusion jar, the Monster stays jumbled, and flipping too many confusion jars means the team must reset their efforts. Designed for 2 to 5 players aged 4 and up, a complete round plays out in an easygoing 20 minutes. To win, players must communicate openly, rely on shared memory, and sort every emotion into place.
