The definitive edition of the high-stakes, point-purging tactical race is here, featuring a chaotic modifier action deck and a devious horizontal elimination matrix for the ultimate zero-downtime card battle.
Skyjo Action (designed by Alexander Bernhardt and published by Magilano) injects a shot of tactical adrenaline into the hit open-market family card game. While preserving the core loop—where players manage a hidden grid of 12 cards and replace high numbers with low or negative values—this version shatters the predictability of the standard game. No longer just a casual math game of "golf," it introduces a completely separate deck of direct-conflict action abilities that can flip the entire table's strategy upside down.
The structural core focuses on maximizing synergy and manipulation. Each turn, you have a choice: draw a standard card to swap into your grid, or grab one of four face-up Action Cards to execute powerful, rule-bending maneuvers. These cards allow you to peek at hidden cards, double-play, swap layouts internally, or steal cards directly from your opponents.
The strategy deepens with the addition of Star Cards (Jokers) that stand in for any number value to trigger tile removals. More importantly, while the original game only cleared vertical columns of identical numbers, this edition now allows complete horizontal rows to be completely vaporized. It is a masterclass in light-strategy design, scaling beautifully up to 8 players for a highly interactive, laugh-out-loud 30-minute play session.
