Lay down innocent roses or lethal skulls, bait your opponents into overconfident wagers, and bluff your way through a high-stakes game of nervous tension.
Skull (designed by Hervé Marly, illustrated by Tom Vuarchex, and published by Space Cowboys / Asmodee) is a legendary bluffing party game originally known as Skull & Roses. Stripped of complex rules, the game relies entirely on player psychology, deception, and reading your rivals. The primary gameplay objective centers on card placement and bold wagering: players take turns placing face-down cards (roses or skulls) in front of themselves until someone launches a challenge, bidding on how many total cards they can successfully flip over without uncovering a hidden skull.
The primary mechanical hurdle stems from navigating escalating bets while avoiding your own or an opponent's fatal skull trap. On your turn, you either expand your personal stack with another face-down card or announce a challenge by stating the exact number of cards you believe you can flip without revealing a skull. If you successfully turn up enough roses, you score a point; uncover a skull, however, and you lose one of your own cards at random, bringing you closer to elimination. Designed for 3 to 6 players aged 10 and up, a lightning-fast match plays out in about 15 to 45 minutes. To outsmart the table, you must master the art of the poker face, bait your rivals into bad bets, and never reveal your hand until the moment is right.
