The definitive edition of the high-tempo, paper-and-pencil classic is here, featuring a simultaneous-play rolling engine and a ruthless ascending/descending matrix lock for the ultimate zero-downtime family race.
Qwixx (designed by Steffen Benndorf and published by Gamewright) is a wildly popular, award-nominated roll-and-write game that completely eliminates the concept of "waiting for your turn." Moving away from standard linear turn-taking models where everyone looks at their phones between actions, this casual filler forces every single player to actively participate on every single roll.
The core strategic puzzle is guided by a strict directionality constraint across four colored number tracks on your score pad. The Red and Yellow rows ascend from 2 to 12, while the Green and Blue rows descend from 12 to 2. When the active player rolls the six dice, they combine the two white dice to announce a public number that anyone at the table can cross off on their sheet. The active player then gets a private bonus option to pair a white die with any colored die to cross a number off on that specific track. The catch? You can only cross off numbers from left to right. If you jump ahead to a 10, you permanently lock yourself out of the 3, 4, and 5 in that row. Cross off at least five numbers and cap a row by rolling the final number 12 or 2, and you physically lock that color out of the game for the entire table. It is a masterclass in risk management, cost-benefit analysis, and push-your-luck probability that fits a complete, high-energy session into a brisk 15 minutes.
