Redesign the transit map of Germany's vibrant capital, lay out four distinct subway lines, and navigate through the historic shadow of the Berlin Wall in an ingenious, colorful flip-and-write route-building puzzle.

Next Station: Berlin (designed by Matthew Dunstan and published by Blue Orange Games) continues the acclaimed flip-and-write series that started with Next Station: London and Next Station: Tokyo. Leaving behind complex board setups and lengthy resource engines, this entry delivers a pure spatial route-planning challenge where every player designs their own personal transit network simultaneously. The primary gameplay objective centers on urban route optimization: players take turns drawing four distinct colored subway lines across a grid map of Berlin, connecting districts, hitting famous city landmarks, and maximizing interchange transfers over four sequential rounds.

The primary mechanical hurdle stems from balancing district coverage with tight spatial restrictions and unique Berlin-specific twists. Each round, a station card is flipped showing a target symbol, and players must extend their current colored line to a matching adjacent station without crossing existing tracks or backtracking. Berlin introduces the historic line of the Berlin Wall across the center of the map: players gain substantial bonus points for crossing back and forth between East and West, but must deal with restricted border-crossing avenues and unique double-track tramway rules. At the end of each round, players pass their colored pencil to the next player, inheriting a new route color and starting terminal. Designed for 1 to 4+ players aged 8 and up, a complete match wraps up in a brisk 25 to 30 minutes. To score the ultimate contract, you must optimize tourist connections, build high-volume interchange stations, and master the historic divide of the city grid.
