Happy Little Dinosaurs: Dating Disasters Expansion turns the mortifying horrors of modern dating into prehistoric catastrophe. In the core game, players guide adorably anxious dinosaurs through falling meteors, boiling lava pits, and existential dread. Dating Disasters posits that the only thing worse than the impending extinction level event is a catastrophic first date. The primary gameplay objective remains focused on survival racing and disaster avoidance: players play point and instant cards simultaneously to outscore rivals and advance along the Escape Route track toward 50 points, all while avoiding taking on three matching disaster cards or four different disaster types that trigger immediate extinction.

The primary mechanical hurdle stems from integrating 16 new Dating Disaster cards alongside fresh Point Cards and tactical Instant effects directly into the core decks. Instead of dodging standard predators or emotional breakdowns, players must survive horrific romantic mishaps—like encountering a literal giant catfish, enduring a date who says "I love you" before appetizers arrive, or getting ghosted mid-meal. These cards introduce new penalty interactions that can freeze point progression, sabotage an opponent's score totals during simultaneous card reveals, or shift disastrous cards across the table into a rival's disaster area. Designed for 2 to 4 players aged 8 and up (and scaling up to 6 players when combined with the 5–6 Player Expansion), a complete game runs in 30 to 60 minutes. To make it out alive, you must play your highest point cards at the right time, wield your reaction cards ruthlessly, and make sure your dinosaur dodges both the meteors and the friend zone.
