Chicago Cribbage (published by Outset Media / OSM, Item #31002) is a specialized modifier expansion designed to upend the rigid math and solitary counting of traditional 121-point Cribbage. Moving away from standard gentlemanly pegging, this release outfits players with a hand of rule-bending tactical cards that directly interfere with opponent plays, crib ownership, and scoring counts. Rather than replacing the foundational game, it overlays seamlessly onto the classic rules: players still deal hands, feed the crib, peg sequentially up to 31, and score traditional 15s, runs, pairs, and flushes, but now wield a private hand of game-altering "Chicago Cards" dealt at the beginning of the match.

The primary mechanical hurdle stems from navigating sudden interruptions, forced resets, and scoring blocks at pivotal moments on the board. Each player starts the match with a hand of 7 special Chicago Cards, choosing the exact moment to spring their traps. When stuck with a garbage hand, players can force an immediate hand swap with an opponent or trigger a total re-deal. When trailing on the scoring track, players can demand an immediate re-cut of the starter card, stall pegged advancement, reverse the counting sequence, or play devastating blocks like "No Fifteens" to completely strip the points from an opponent's massive combo. Designed for 2 to 4 players aged 10 and up, rounds play out at the standard 30-to-45-minute Cribbage pace while keeping every player constantly guarding their count. (Note: This is an expansion deck; a standard 52-card playing deck, cribbage board, and pegs are required for play).
