Moving away from highly aggressive player conflict or dry abstract tracks, this title focuses entirely on clever hand management and spatial card placement. The core objective is a highly satisfying optimization puzzle: players draft and play diverse ecological cards from a shared central clearing, systematically planting sturdy trees to establish a base habitat, and then tucking animals, plants, and fungi underneath those tree tiles to trigger powerful immediate resource bonuses and lucrative end-game scoring synergies.

The primary strategic hurdle lies in managing your tight hand sizes while navigating the innovative four-sided split-card mechanics to maximize habitat requirements. Except for the foundational tree cards, almost every card in the deck is split either vertically or horizontally into two distinct halves (such as a Fox on top and a Deer on the bottom, or Moss on the left and a Mushroom on the right). When you pay the resource cost to play a card, you must choose exactly one half to slide underneath an available slot on a tree, completely hiding the other half for the rest of the game. Different forest species demand specific companions or habitats—some animals score massive bonuses for large herds, while specific predators require a steady supply of smaller prey to activate their scoring values. True tactical mastery requires balancing your card spending economy with the public cards left in the clearing, optimizing specialized symbol combinations, and managing your engine output before the third Winter card is revealed from the deck, abruptly ending the match across a smooth and rewarding 45-to-60 minute session.
