Join us at Gnome Games Appleton East for Magic the Gathering: A Villainous Halloween!
Starting at 6 PM on Friday, October 31st, we are hosting a special twist on our Commander nights. Players bring their own Commander decks and, at the start of the game, secretly choose a villain card, each representing a classic villain from Magic’s history with its own alternate win condition! As the game goes on, players can work towards their secret objective. Once these conditions are met, reveal the villain card! Other players begin losing their turns at their end steps if they cannot stop the villain in time.
At the end of the event, each player will have the opportunity to take a set of the villain cards and a play sheet to host the event at home! Entry for this event is $5 of any Magic the Gathering related product, same as our standard Commander nights. If you can convince us it’s related to Magic the Gathering, you’re all set!
What do I need for this event?
A commander deck is required to play in this event. If a player does not have a commander deck, we always have some for sale that players can pick up and learn with ease! You must also have a Wizards account. Don’t have one? Sign up here!
Register for the event ahead of time using this code on the Companion App: NM7YZXW

With Standard format rotating soon, a reminder:
For in-person Play! Pokémon events, the Standard format rotation will go into effect on April 11, 2025.
Cards with the “F” regulation mark will no longer be legal for play in the 2025 Standard format. Cards with “G,” “H”, and “I” regulation marks will be legal to use (as will any future regulation marks that may be released). A card’s legality status is no longer based on which expansion it’s from. Even if a card is from a recently released expansion, players will need to refer to the regulation mark on the bottom of the card to see whether that card is legal for play. New cards still must follow the appropriate waiting period to become tournament legal, which is typically two weeks after their release. Moving forward, players should expect cards with the oldest legal regulation mark to rotate out of the Standard format when a new one is introduced.
