Join us at Gnome Games Appleton East for our May Pokémon League Challenge!
It’s the time of the month where we do our competitive level Pokémon TCG League Challenge! On May 9th at 12 PM, we’re taking off in a 3 round Swiss style tournament! Each match won awards you with Prize Packs, so the better you do, the more Championship Points you get, the more likely you are to get an invitation to the Pokémon World Championships. Additionally each round, a Prize Pack goes out to a random player!
Each round is 30 minutes, best of one. Entry for Juniors and Seniors is $5, and entry for Masters is $10. Players must have a Pokémon ID to enter into the tournament. Don’t have one? We can help you sign up! We have sheets available in-store, and the rest of the registration process can be done at home.
What is a Pokémon League Challenge?
Pokémon League Challenges are competitive level tournaments at the Local Store level. These events are entry-level competitions, great for competitors of all experience levels! League Challenges specifically grant Championship Points toward earning an invitation to the Pokémon World Championships. League Challenge events are typically held once per month at select Pokémon League locations. These events use the Standard format, and require decks to be Tournament legal.
At higher levels are Pokémon League Cups. Typically held quarterly, League Cup event competitors can expect a step up, with tougher competitors vying for greater rewards. These also offer greater rewards, including more Championship Points and a Championship Playmat!

**New Mechanics **
XP: You can gain and spend XP for interesting effects (As displayed with Voidreaver and Master Yi below)

Hunt: Hunt is a new mechanic that helps you build up the XP you’ll use to enhance your cards or spend for splashy effects. When a unit with Hunt conquers or holds a battlefield, you’ll gain the amount of XP on the card.

Ambush: In League of Legends, one of the core skills of a jungler is the ability to attack from concealment at just the right moment. In Riftbound, the new Ambush mechanic lets you do that too. Specifically, Ambush lets you play a unit as a Reaction to a battlefield where you have units. Like Inferna!

There’s this and so much more coming in the newest set, Riftbound: Unleashed! Make a trip to Gnome Games Green Bay West to see all these fun mechanics in action for our Pre-rift Event!

What is Riftbound?
Riftbound is a collectable trading card game featuring a vast array of characters and locales from League of Legends. Choose a Legend and Chosen Champion card for your deck and battle it out between 2 to 4 players in various game modes! The most important card in your deck is your champion legend. This is the card you build your deck around—it determines your options for the chosen champion who starts faceup on the board and who you’ll send to fight for you, and it defines the domains (colors) of your deck’s cards.
Your legend and your chosen champion define your strategy. Maybe your plan is quick strikes, maybe it’s to build up an unstoppable huge army, or maybe it’s to use one incredibly powerful and mobile fighter. You’ll have additional units (and other champion units) to send to fight, spells to help them win, and even gear to empower your team.
