What do I need to know for Deckbuilding?

Because of the nature of sealed events, decks can contain more than four cards with the same card number. It can also contain more than four of each of the Special, Color, and Final trigger types. 5 booster packs contribute to creating as close to a 60 card deck as possible. A deck needs 3 Action Point cards, Raids can be performed using cards with two different colors, and five Special triggers can be in a deck. Bring your own sleeves from home or purchase some before the event!

What is Weiss Schwarz?

Weiss (Weiß) Schwarz is a trading card game where players relive climactic moments from their favorite anime or video games titles on their very own stage! There are three types of cards: character cards, event cards, and climax cards. Your deck contains 50 cards with a maximum of 8 climax cards. Yu-Gi-Oh! Weekly Tournament at Gnome Games Appleton East – $5

Join us at Gnome Games Appleton East for our weekly Yu-Gi-Oh! Tournament!

Sundays at 1 PM we host our very own weekly tournaments for Yu-Gi-Oh! Battle it out in 3 rounds of a Swiss style tournament using your very own constructed decks. Each match won awards you with an OTS pack! If you haven’t received one by the end of the event, you get one just for participating!

Weekly tournaments are a great way to hang out, test out new decks, chat about Yu-Gi-Oh!, and more! Our entry fee is $5. Don’t have a deck? Check out our structure decks for sale in store! They offer great ways to pick up and learn the game, while highlighting iconic archetypes and characters from the franchise.

What is Yu-Gi-Oh?

In Yu-Gi-Oh!, two players Duel each other using a variety of Monster, Spell, and Trap Cards to defeat their opponent’s monsters and be the first to drop the other’s Life Points to 0. Players draw cards from their respective decks and take turns playing cards onto “the field”. Each player uses a deck containing forty to sixty cards, and an optional “extra deck” of up to fifteen cards. Join the Gnomes each Friday at 6:30pm for Riftbound’s Nexus Nights!

We’re inviting players out to play Riftbound in a variety of formats with a simple cost of purchasing a pack of Riftbound! Promos will go out based on attendance.

  • Fury (Red) –
    • Fury is about aggression, passion, and the thrill of conquering.
    • Fury decks often use damage-based removal, Accelerate (and other ways to enter ready), and rewards for conquering to achieve victory.
    • Generally, Fury cards have a harder time drawing lots of cards or killing units directly, especially units that stay out of combat in their base.
    • Examples of Fury from popular fiction are Conan the Barbarian, Blade, and Anakin Skywalker.
  • Calm (Green)
    • Calm is about balance, meditation, and the peace of holding.
    • Calm decks often use defensive tricks, moving enemies, and negating interaction (like counterspells and stuns) to defend their holds and achieve victory.
    • Generally, Calm cards have a harder time being very aggressive or interacting without using their units.
    • Examples of Calm from popular fiction are Gandalf, Baloo, and Obi Wan Kenobi.
  • Mind (Blue)
    • Mind is about innovation, outsmarting opponents, and the benefits of intelligence and curiosity.
    • Mind decks often use long-term planning, shrinking tricks, card draw, hidden and gear synergy to gain an advantage and achieve victory.
    • Generally, Mind cards have a harder time with moving units or having efficient units.
    • Examples of Mind from popular fiction are Sherlock Holmes, Curious George, and Yoda.
  • Body (Orange)
    • Body is about physical superiority, agility, and connection to the wilds.
    • Body decks often ramp their resources, play efficient and high impact units, and dominate combats to achieve victory.
    • Generally, Body cards have a harder time with finding efficient card draw or noncombat spells.
