Learn to Play Magic the Gathering at Gnome Games Appleton East – Purchase of 2 Jumpstart Packs

Join us at Gnome Games Appleton East for our Learn to Play Magic the Gathering event!

Don’t know how to play Magic the Gathering? You’re in the right place! From 6 to 9 PM, stop in and purchase two Jumpstart Boosters to shuffle into a deck, and one of our very own staff members will teach you! Just for participating, you receive a special Welcome Deck. These decks keep newer players in mind and emphasize easy to read and understandable mechanics.

Our entry for this event is the purchase of two Jumpstart Booster Packs! Otherwise, no experience needed. This event aims solely at teaching you how to play Magic the Gathering!

Players must have a Wizards account and enter into our event to qualify for a Welcome Deck. Don’t have one? Sign up here! Kids under 16 can register as guests.

What is Magic the Gathering?

Magic is a collectible trading card game of fun-filled, strategic games to play with friends old and new. Welcoming worldbuilders, narrative lovers, and gameplay enthusiasts alike, Magic has something for everyone and countless ways to play. Each of the five colors in Magic represent a different philosophy and a different playstyle. Choose your color(s) to decide which type of land you’ll be drawing resources (mana) from and what type of Magic you’ll wield. Magic the Gathering: Secrets of Strixhaven Store Championship at Gnome Games Appleton North

Join us at Gnome Games Appleton North for our Magic the Gathering: Secrets of Strixhaven Store Championship!

On Sunday, May 24th at 12:15pm we will be hosting a competitive level Store Championship for Secrets of Strixhaven! Starting at 12:15 PM, players will sit and play in 3+ rounds of a Swiss style tournament where each match they win, they win a pack! One participation booster pack and promo cards *while supplies last* will go out for all participants, the top 8, and 1 exclusive promo for the winner!

Rounds depend on attendance, and at most will be 5 Rounds with a Top 8 Top Cut. Our rounds are 50 minutes, best of 3. Top Cut is also timed, with play speed and overtime kept in mind. Top cut, single elimination playoffs are 90 minutes, best of 3 (including finals).

8 or less players: 3 Rounds, no top cut
9-16 players: 4 rounds, top 4
17+ players: 5 rounds, top 8

What do I need to participate?

A Wizards account is required for entry. Participants have to come prepared with a fully legal Standard 60 card deck. For reference, current standard legal sets are the following:

Friday Night Magic Secrets of Strixhaven Draft at Gnome Games Green Bay West

Time to return to our old alma mater!! Draft with the Gnomes with the newest set of Magic the Gathering: Secrets of Strixhaven!

Each Friday at 6pm is our draft time! $30 entry gets each player 3 Play Booster packs to draft with. We’ll play 3 rounds after decks are constructed from cards drafted and the basic lands Gnome provides! Each round won, wins the match winner a play booster!

Secrets of Strixhaven Casual Prerelease 101 is in session!
Wednesday, April 22th at 5pm!

Uncover years of mysteries as you explore the hallowed halls of Strixhaven! All of the Strixhaven colleges are back with their own unique look, feel, and focus!

All participants will receive a Prerelease kit to build a 40-card minimum deck (we provide basic lands), then play in a 3-round best-of-3 tournament! All participants receive two extra packs of Secrets of Strixhaven for participating in our event!

There are five versions of the Prerelease Pack for Secrets of Strixhaven, each aligned with one of Strixhaven’s colleges: Silverquill, Prismari, Witherbloom, Lorehold, and Quandrix. Each includes a college themed seeded booster and a Spindown™ life counter!

Magic the Gathering: Secrets of Strixhaven 2 Headed Giant Prerelease: Class 401 at Gnome Games Appleton East – $90

Join us at Gnome Games Appleton East for our Magic the Gathering: Secrets of Strixhaven 2 Headed Giant Prerelease!

On Saturday, April 18th at 2 PM, compete in a prerelease formatted for 2 Headed Giant! Each player opens up a Secrets of Strixhaven Prerelease kit, builds a minimum 40 card deck, and plays in 3 rounds of a Swiss style tournament! Round wins awards both team members with an additional pack of Secrets of Strixhaven! Rounds are 50 minutes, best of 1. Teams share a 30-life total and take their turn simultaneously. They untap, upkeep, draw, and attack as a unit!

201 Curriculum Guide

Randomly receiving One of Five Secrets of Strixhaven prerelease packs, focusing on one of the five colleges of Strixhaven: Silverquill, Prismari, Witherbloom, Lorehold, and Quandrix!
- Each Prerelease pack contains: A College-Themed Seeded Booster, Spindown Counter, a bonus Foil Rare or Mythic Rare card and 5 Secrets of Strixhaven Play Boosters.
Building a 40 card minimum deck out of their prerelease pack and basic lands provided by Gnome Games!
Playing 3 rounds of Magic the Gathering with the deck made during a 50 minute deckbuilding period.
- Each round is decided by best 2 of 3 games during a 50 minute time frame.
Winning a Secrets of Strixhaven Play Booster with each match win!

Strixhaven University

Founded over 700 years ago by five spellcasting dragons, Strixhaven University is Arcavios’s premier institution of magical learning, drawing promising young mages from all across the Multiverse to study in its halls.

Strixhaven is divided into five colleges, each with their own campus, faculty, and academic fields of study. Each college focuses on the clash between two opposing colors of mana, exploring the questions and challenges that arise from these dichotomies.
