How does a prelease work?

These events are hosted at Gnome Games and let you play with a new set a week ahead of its release!

Prereleases are run as Sealed events, which means you’ll construct a 40-card deck out of the contents of your Prerelease kit and any number of basic lands. For more information from Wizards on the prerelease, check here: https://magic.wizards.com/en/formats/sealed-deck

Lorcana Wilds Unknown Pack Rush Prerelease at Gnome Games Appleton East – $20

Join us at Gnome Games Appleton East for our Lorcana Wilds Unknown Pack Rush Prerelease!

On Sunday, May 10th at 1 PM, hop into a pack rush event for the newest Lorcana set, Wilds Unknown! Players open up 2 packs, shuffle them together, and play right away! There are no rounds or timers, just fast paced games! Participants receive a pack after completing two games against other players!

In Pack Rush, players get 2 packs, shuffle them together, and play right away! It’s best not to look at the cards when shuffling to keep things a surprise. The marketing and puzzle cards become 2 Ink at the very start of the game, and all cards can be used as Ink! The first player to 15 lore wins the game! After players have participated in two matches, they can head to the front counter and receive another pack of Wilds Unknown.

Players must register on the Ravensburger Play Hub. Entry is $20.

What is Lorcana?

Disney Lorcana is a game where you team up with your favorite Disney characters and embark on exciting adventures! In the magical realm of Lorcana, you’ll work with your team of characters in a race for prized story stars. This immersive trading card game involves collecting cards and building decks, offers fun and strategic play, and lets you play against one or more opponents.

You’ve seen the toys from Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story films make it through many perils in the past, but they’ve never faced threatening landscapes like those in the far-off corners of the realm. This is no time to be toying around, so make sure you have these trusty buddies in your decks!

Glimmers of the Parr family from The Incredibles are ready to speed, stretch, and fight their way into the realm. They’ve faced supervillains, but how you cleverly deploy their unique powers will be the difference between saving the day and defeat.

The princess glimmer Merida and others from her clan are ready to take aim at a victorious quest! Scottish accents are encouraged when enlisting the likes of Elinor, Fergus and more in your decks.

Lorcana Wilds Unknown Sealed Prerelease at Gnome Games Appleton East – $50

Join us at Gnome Games Appleton East for our Lorcana Wilds Unknown Sealed Prerelease!

On Saturday, May 9th at 2 PM, compete in a sealed style tournament for the newest Lorcana set, Wilds Unknown! Players open up 6 packs, have 30 minutes to build a deck, and play in a 3 round Swiss style tournament! Each round won awards players with an additional pack of Wilds Unknown! Rounds are 50 minutes, best of 3.

Wilds Unknown features a new way to play Sealed tournaments with Prerelease Kits! Each kit contains 6 booster packs, 1 of 6 special “Traveler” promo cards, 4 damage counter dice, a set-themed postcard, and a cardboard deck box. Travelers include Ariel, Maleficent, Cruella, Queen of Hearts, Cinderella, and Pocahontas, with an exclusive Wilds Unknown stamp to complement these gold accented cards!

Players must register on the Ravensburger Play Hub. Entry is $50.

What’s a Two-Headed Giant event?

Play, plan, and battle as a team. In Two-Headed Giant, each two-player teams shares a starting 30 life and takes their turn simultaneously. The team does not share any other resources other than life. For instance, any reference to “you” on a card still applies to the individual holder.

Effects that read “each opponent” or “each player”, however, affect each team member separately. Players can block any creature(s) that are attacking them, their teammates or Planeswalkers their team controls.

All participants will receive a Prerelease kit to build a 40-card minimum deck (we provide basic lands). Teams pool the cards they open and build decks together, then play in a 3-round best-of-3 tournament! Win-a-match, win-a-pack of Marvel Super Heroes for each member of the winning team!

What is a Sealed Event?

In a Sealed tournament, each player is provided with a set of unopened booster packs from which they will build their deck. You then play against other players who have done the same!

After opening the packs, you have a certain time limit to make a deck with the following rules:

Minimum 40-card deck
Any number of copies of a card
Any number of ink colors

The rest of the cards you didn’t use are your sideboard–cards that you can use as substitutes for cards in your main deck. You can switch them before each game!

You’ll be matched up against an opponent and go head-to-head. After the game, you’re paired off with a new opponent and keep going until you’ve played all the rounds.

What is Pack Rush?

Pack Rush is a quick way to play the Disney Lorcana trading card game using just a couple of booster packs! It is a Limited, Casual, 24 card format in which each player opens two Disney Lorcana booster packs, and uses all cards within, regardless of their ink color.

Special Rules

Each Players opens two booster packs backside up, and uses all the cards within. Do not look at the cards.
The two inserts (puzzle cards/marketing cards) are put into the inkwell at the start of the game.
Shuffle the deck
Start by drawing 5 cards.
If you run out of cards in your deck, shuffle your discard pile and move it to the Deck Zone.
First to 15 lore wins.

Pokémon: Chaos Rising Prerelease at Gnome Games Green Bay West

Join us for our Pokémon: Chaos Rising Prereleases at Gnome Games Green Bay West!

Take part in a Pokémon Prerelease for Chaos Rising! Crack open a Build & Battle kit, craft a deck, and see how you do in a 3 round Swiss style tournament! All participants get 3 packs of Chaos Rising at the end for playing in the 3 rounds! Players have 30 minutes to build their decks. Rounds are 30 minutes, best of one.

What is Prerelease?

A prerelease is a type of event that gives players the chance to get product early. In the case of Pokémon, people can participate in events before the set comes out. Each person receives a Build & Battle kit, which consists of a random 40 card deck and 4 packs of the set. Then they battle it out in 3 rounds of a Swiss style Tournament and receive extra packs at the end for participating! Players get to keep all of the cards that they get from prereleases.

The Prerelease format allows players to compete using a 40-card deck with four Prize cards set aside at the start of play. This is different from the usual 60-card deck with six Prize cards. Due to the limited card pool and the variance of cards that can be acquired in a Build & Battle Box, Prerelease events are also a great opportunity to flex your creative deck-building muscles.
