PHD and The Army Painter Miniature Painting Competion – Test Your Painting Skills!

Gnome Games, Army Painter and PHD Distribution invite you to paint your miniature and win big prizes in the Into the Darkness Painting Contest!

Break out your brushes and pop the caps off your paints! The Army Painter and Peachstate Hobby Distribution have joined forces once again to bring an exciting miniature competition to all Gnome Games stores!

The Army Painter: Into the Darkness Painting Competition will allow you to compete nationally with other minis painters for some awesome prizes.

With this national competition, someone will be promoted to the top miniature painter at each Gnome Games store and receive a $50 store credit for The Army Painter products.

Then, each store’s winner will move on to the finals in which the Best of the Best will win The Grand Prize: The Limited Edition Wargamers Complete Paint Set valued at $350!

The Rules:

  • Register for the store competition at the store of your choice when you purchase your miniature. We’ll log it and get a “before” picture. All miniatures entered into the contest must be purchased at the store where you enter.
Then begin painting! Bring it back for judging on or before December 6. A winner will be announced by December 8 for each store.
  • You may only submit one miniature for judging in this competition per store.
  • We’ll be taking pictures of the winner and the winning mini and sending them to PHD for the national judging. Gnome Games and PHD will be posting all entries to Facebook. PHD will be posting all the store winners to their Facebook page so everyone can enjoy the amazing work of all the epic-level painters!

The Details:

  • The competition theme for the participating miniatures is “Into the Darkness” where the only criteria is creatures or humanoids that reside in or venture into the deep recesses of the earth. They must fit on a 40mm base or smaller. If a miniature that does not fit into this category should win a store competition, and is submitted for final judging, that miniature may be excluded at the sole discretion of our expert panel of judges.
  • Miniatures must be entered into the store where they are purchases – so remember to check in when you buy your mini!
  • On, or before 9 PM , December 6, 2019, all minis must have been brought into the store for photographing and final entry. The store winner will be announced by December 8, 2019.
  • At that time, each store will award the winning painter with their $50 The Army Painter credit.
  • Each store will take additional color pictures of the winner and winning miniature to send to the national competition.
  • The winning store entry will be announced on December 15, 2019 via PHDs Facebook page.
  • Please note that our judging panel’s decision is final and no correspondence will be replied to regarding selection of the winning entry.
  • By registering for the competition, customers agree to allow PHD, Army Painter and Gnome Games full use of ALL submitted images and photographs for marketing and promotional purposes.

The Prizes:

  • The Limited Edition Wargamers Complete Paint Set will be awarded to the best overall figure from the submissions of all of the participating store winners.

Gnome Games Kill Team Campaign

When: October 13th – December 15th
Where: Gnome Games Green Bay East
Cost: $5/player (covers the entire league)

What is the Kill Team Campaign

Each player will chose an army and begin the campaign with a total of 32 resources split into 4 categories. Using the rules outlined on page 63 of the Kill Team Core manual players will fight out 100 point matches using a “Battle-forged” Kill Team. The player that loses the mission will also lose some of their precious resources as determined by the scenario.

If any of your resource categories fall to 0 support from your faction is pulled! If this happens don’t fret you still may play league games but as part of the guerrilla faction! There are even special prizes for the guerrilla player that plays the most games!

When can I play?

Players are encouraged to play on Saturdays, however league games may be played any time during the week. Players should report their games and update their resource cards as their games finish. A league week runs from Saturday morning to the following Friday night.

Spoils of war! Fabulous Prizes!

Participation prizes are given out weekly, the first time a player checks in that week. These include “Tactics” cards that give players cool in-game benifits! In addition if you play at least one game each week in a 3 week period you get the following:

  • Oct. 13th – Nov. 2nd: Play in all 3 weeks to earn a pair of Kill Team Counter Spinners!
  • Nov. 3rd – Nov. 23rd: Play in all 3 weeks to earn a set of Unique Kill Team Dice!
  • Nov. 24th – Dec. 15th: Play in all 3 weeks to earn set of Unique Kill Team Objective Markers!

Also, at the end of each 3 week period, the player from each faction with the most remaining resources will receive a “Best in Faction” button to show off their tactical skills! If a player has lost their faction and are fighting for the guerrillas, they will be awarded the Best Guerrilla button if they have played the most games (only applicable in league section 2 and 3).

The Best Overall Kill Team (the single team with the most resource points) will be awarded a Prize Medal as follows:

  • Nov. 3rd – Nov. 23rd: Silver Medal
  • Nov. 24th – Dec. 15th: Gold Medal
