Prepare to go a little nuts at Gnome Games APE! You read that right. Magic the Gathering: Unstable is coming to Gnome Games for a draft weekend!
Where: Gnome Games Appleton East
When: December 9th, 2pm-5pm
New to the drafting format? No problem. A quick rundown of the rules to follow, with helpful hints found in parentheses!
Once the event has started, all players will be given a seating assignment. They will sit in whichever seat they are given and will end up in a “pod” of usually 6-8 players.
Following seating, each participant will be given three packs of Magic: Unstable. (*Don’t open the packs just yet!! Wait until the organizer says so.*)
Following the “pack pass-out”, the organizer/host will quickly review the draft instructions, just in case.
Once the host has given you the go-ahead, you will open one single pack of Unstable. Then the shenanigans begin. Once you have opened your first pack, remove the token card and basic land card. (**If you open a foil land, please leave it in the pack**)
After you have removed those cards, you will pick one card from what you have remaining in the pack. After you have chosen a single card, take the remaining cards in your hand and pass them to the participant on your left. Continue this method until there are 0 cards remaining to be passed.
(*Make sure you go slowly to avoid mixing up packs. You want to keep all the packs separate from each other!*)
Once you have finished your round with your first pack, open the second pack of Unstable. Just like before, remove the token and basic land. Once you have selected a card from this pack, pass to your right. Passing will continue in this fashion until no cards remain.
With the final pack, you will do the same once again. Open, remove the token and basic land, then pass, this time to the left once again. Continue until there are no more cards remaining.
The objective of the draft is to build a cohesive deck. Once you have picked all the cards you can, the host/organizer will provide the players with basic land to use in the event.
Build a deck with a minimum of forty cards. (*You can use more if you’d like!*)
Once deck building is complete, we will pair all of the event players into a three round, Win a Match, Win a Pack event. The objective of the event is to have fun!
As an added bonus, this particular draft event will also have sandwiches for all of our players!
Hope to see you there!
