Its the most wonderful time… to draft Magic!
Thats right, Magic the Gathering: Store Championships are right around the corner. It is your chance to win some awesome prizes while playing the game you love most.
Magic the Gathering Store Championships @ GnomeGames Green Bay West!
When: Friday, December 29th @ 6:30 (registration will be available online and will open IN STORE at 5:00pm)
Where: Gnome Games Green Bay West
Format: Draft (Ixalan)
This will be draft format and will include win a match win a pack.
Haven’t drafted before? No fear! We at Gnome Games have you covered.
Once the event has started players will be given a seating assignment. They will sit in whichever seat they are given and will be in a “pod” of usually 6-8 players.
Following seating, each participant will be given 3 packs of Magic: Ixalan. YOU MAY NOT OPEN THE PACKS AT THIS TIME.
Following the “pack passout”, the organizer/host will give a brief list of instructions on how draft works just in case.
Once the host has given you the go ahead, you will open 1 (A SINGLE PACK) of Ixalan. Then the shenanigans begin. Once you have opened your first pack, you will remove the token card and basic land card. (**If you open a foil land, please leave it in the pack**)
After you have removed those cards, you will pick 1 card from what you have left. After everyone has chosen a single card, you will take the remaining cards in your hand and pass them to the participant on your left. You will continue this method until there are 0 cards remaining to be passed.
*MAKE SURE YOU GO SLOWLY TO AVOID MIXING UP PACKS, YOU WANT TO KEEP ALL PACKS SEPARATE FROM EACHOTHER*
Once you have finished your round with your first pack, you will open a second pack of Ixalan. Once again remove the token and basic land. Once you have selected a card from this pack, you will pass to your right. Passing will continue in this fashion until no cards remain.
With the final pack, you will do the same once again. Open, remove token and basic land, once again passing to the left.
The objective is to build a deck that is cohesive. Once you have picked all the cards you can, the host/organizer will provide the players with basic land to use in the event.
Each player will build a MINIMUM 40 card deck.
Once deck building is complete, you will play in a series of win a match win a pack games.
Besides booster packs, other prizing for this event include a special map of Ixalan playmat, Premium full-art rare Ghalta, and deckboxes. All of these wonderful prizes can be found here: https://magic.wizards.com/en/events/event-types/store-championship
Whether you are competitive or casual, this will be a wonderful event, hope to see you there.
